Steve Says; Very, very clever, cleaver.
Effect:
A ring (which may be borrowed) is placed into a crystal casket and the top is closed. The box is covered with an empty tube. A magical cleaver (a small sword) is inserted into the top of the tube, and then magically pushed down through the crystal casket and through the ring. When the tube is removed, the sword is through the ring inside the casket.
History :
Tooru Suzuki challenges himself each year to release tricks that utilize borrowed objects. This is the first effect in that series. The most appropriate effect for a finger ring is a penetration effect. Vanishes and transpostions can be performed with any small objects, such as coins, but penetrations can only be performed with items that contain a hole, such as finger rings. A pole of some sort is also required, as is a case that can cover everything. Numerous magicians have created tricks that follow these guidelines, but Suzuki excelled over all previously existing methods with his clever idea. It is just as amazing to learn the secret as it is to watch this trick.
